Welcome to the World, Babe.
8:02 AM
Welcome to the world sweet Balen Gary Moore! Balen?! How in the world do you pronounce that?! Bay- lyn. Not to be confused with "bae", but let's be honest, he pretty much is.
Born on January 14th at 8:51 pm.
Weighing in at a whopping 7lbs 14oz and 21 inches long! .. and he was 3 weeks early. We could of had a 9 pounder on our hands!
He is perfect in every single way. With his full head of hair, long legs, and his weird curled up pinky toes! I honestly have no idea what I was so nervous about. He just....completes our family.
How did we choose the name? Well, at first we were pretty positive we were going to name him Greyson, but it never really sat right with Tim. And then we also had Benji and Marshall on the table. After deciding Marshall Gary Moore was definitely it.. I found the name Balen. And that lit a spark in our hearts and we knew it was right.
Gary is Tim's grandpa's name and he has been wanting a great grandson for some time. We thought a little tribute to him would be best. Hopefully Balen gets his charm and wit from his great grandpa Gary!
Here is the birth story! Because these are always so great!
So we were scheduled for a c-section the last weekend of January, but we were hoping he would come on his own!

The last week or so my Braxton Hicks contractions were getting VERY annoying and I was having a lot.
This morning I woke up to 1 or 2 contractions, but nothing big. Around 4pm I had 2 more little ones and went on about my day.
Now.. by 5pm everything hit the fan. I started getting really bleh to intense, but random contractions.. I had about 8 in an hour.. By 620pm we decided I needed to go to the hospital
Did i mention we had nothing packed? And that the hospital was about 30 minutes away? Talk about panic! We reached the hospital about 7 or so and by the I was finally in a room and checked it was 7:45 and I was at 6cm. And I fell apart.. I just cried and cried. I was not ready for this. I was not ready to bring a baby into this world today, but Balen was ready.

By 8pm I was at a 9 and seriously ready to give birth, naturally, right in the triage room. Just to show you the seriousness on this - after the nurse checked me all you see if her face drop and rush out of the room. This little guy was coming and he was not waiting for anyone. That's right ya'll. This momma just about went natural! The nurses were actually rooting for that, but my doctor said otherwise.
So I went in for my c-section (almost gave birth on the operating table via VBAC) and by 8:51 he was out and in daddy's arms.
Seriously... what?! Today was such a normal day! And then our whole lives changed in a matter of 4 hours!
I'm going to toot my own horn for a second because I'm still a little drugged up and I'm kinda feeling like a champ. But hey... I dilated to a 9 without any medication. I totally could of pulled that off! There would of been a ton (more) of cursing and crying, but dang it! I could of done it. Glad I didn't, though.. becaue you know.. spinal taps are magical.
AND I went through that quick and intense labor all while cooking dinner and taking care of my 1 year old. Self high five because I'm a bad as over here.
Am I upset about not going VBAC? Well, yeah. That was my plan, but honestly... I believe birth is birth and c-sections are some serious business, even though some people say other wise. If that's you then I challenge you to be sliced open (muscles and all), have your skin stretched, and a baby pulled out of you by a pair of hands. It's not that bad, reeally!
Even at 37 weeks, Balen is doing so good. He is positive for Coombs and has Jaundice so we are expecting to be here a few extra days and expirence that wonderful.. stupid.. billiblanket. Although, it could be worse and other than that he is okay! I was pretty worried for awhile, but he came out screaming and ready to eat. He latches like a champ and already loves to cuddle.
Right now he is tucked nice and tight between us snoozing away.. and is just so.. amazing. Seruously, why was I so worried? We love him so much.
So, here is to our new little babe, our older babe, and for joining the 2 under 2 club!
It's going to be a fun..crazy journey!
Are you guys ready for picture overload? Because that storm is coming soon!

ReplyDeleteYour baby is perfect. Wow, only 4 hours of labor. What a blessing. Isn't it amazing how strong we are? Every labor experience is so different. I had 4 and they were all so different. It looks like your daughter is going to be a great helper with her brother. Enjoy this time cause it goes by so fast. Congrats love. :)
