ABC/SHAPES Learning Board!

10:19 AM

When I was in high school I worked for a family who had a young boy with autism. During my time with them I used a lot of learning boards to teach him letters, words, emotions, and so on and I fell in love with them.  Once I found out I was pregnant I knew it would be something I would use for early development or learning skills.

I'm constantly singing the alphabet, counting, or saying what shapes and colors things are to get that brain of hers rolling. So now that Brynlee is a little older and has a knack for doing puzzles and such I thought now would be a good time to start up a few learning boards for her!

Here is my super simple and easy DIY ABC/Shapes learning board! :)

Materials:
Poster board
Foam or felt letters
Foam paper for the shapes
Velcro
Marker
Scissors

Steps:

1. The first thing I did was place all the letters on the board to make sure I had enough space.
2. Trace all the letters with a marker. Just an FYI you will probably get sick of this by the time you reach "C" like I did so most of these are looking pretty horrible. It's all good though!

3.Cut your velcro strips into squares

OR you can buy these pre cut and in cute little circles. Why didn't I get those? I don't know? I like to make my life difficult?

4. Place the two parts of velcro to the board and to your letters.

This is the back of the board where I did the shapes

What did I tell ya? Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Very excited to use these in our new daily routine of learning something new!
