Friends and hardships.
1:49 PMThinking about all my deleted blog posts makes me super sad because I know I wrote one before about my dear friend and it's just gone.
Well, you will not win, Internet! I'll make a bigger and better one.
Tim and I have some of the greatest, kindest, funniest best friends anyone could ever ask for. Their hearts truly never cease to amaze us.
We met David and Amanda through our ward when Tim and I were newly moved into our new apartment in Henderson. They invited us over for dinner and a game night - which Amanda and I totally won.... - and we've been best friends ever since.
The Browns have brought a beautiful sweet little girl into this world named Adalyn. Now, I couldn't give this story justice because there is a lot to it and a lot of big medical terms, so I'm just going to give you a link to her blog (Our Little Moments ) and tell you it's a must read.
After everything she has gone through... this little girl may be more amazing than her parents.
Sorry, guys. We love you, but when two awesome people have a baby its just natural the baby is more awesome than you.
When everything first came to light at what type of struggles lay ahead for Adalyn, after being told her chances of her not surviving birth, and being told they should abort the pregnancy they stood tall, put on a brave face, and said no, we need to give her a fighting chance.
And let me tell you, this little gal is a fighter.
I remember the night Amanda had Adalyn.. Tim and I slept on edge if not at all for the news. And then about 5am ( I think) David texted me saying she's here and breathing on her own. Mom and baby are doing great. - with amazing photos attached-
Holy tears!
So almost 6 months later, Adalyn is still such a little fighter. It is truly amazing the things she has to go through on a daily basis and she continues to not give up. Her parents continue to not give up.
And even though they are running on empty with no sleep they still manage to have us over for visits.
They are crazy people!
We've been so bad at taking pictures with the last visits, but we got some this time!!
Brynlee had SO much love to give her friend. It was truly amazing (because she's a nut ball) how soft she was being with her. So adorable it's brings tears to my eyes.
She so decided while we walked back from the park Amanda needed to stay close so she could rub Adalyn's head haha.
And our amazing friends cooked us home made pizza AND brownie ice cream cake for my birthday. Presents included. See? Amazing people.
Amanda never fails to tell me how much of a super mom I am when we talk. I'm pretty sure though her and David and super man and woman, Tim is Batman, and I'd be like.. Robin. Joseph-Gordon Levitt Robin, though I mean, I would at least be good looking, right?
Striking resemblance, no?
Every time she says it we have a battle who "no YOU are the super mom!" Because let's be honest, it's her. I could not do the things she does daily.
But it also reminds me that this is the relationship all friends and mom's SHOULD have. Amanda and I have totally different mom struggles and we both remind each other we are each super moms. It's truly a beautiful thing, to have a friend like that.
Tim and I always try to do what we can for them and most days we feel like we come short of being good friends. Because honestly, what do you say when you can't imagine being in their situation?
I'll be honest, there was a time we didn't know what we should hold back from sharing and if it would be okay to share little joys with them. When Tim and I found out we were expecting baby number two we wondered if we were maybe a little selfish. But as usual, David and Amanda heard the news and welcomed it with open, loving arms of excitement.
There are a few things, important things, they have thought us over this last year.
Friends with hardships should still forever be treated as your friends.
Acting normal around them can be a good thing.
Listening and just being there to let them vent is a great thing.
Sometimes saying nothing at all is the best thing to say.
Enjoying their little girls life with them is an amazing thing.
Reminding them how great and strong they are is needed- says us! Because it's true!
Amanda has personaly taught me how every mom/ friend should treat others. No matter the struggle or hardship we all have different battles we go through daily. She makes me strive to be a better friend, mom, and person in general.
Tim and I are very stingy so no, we will not be sharing them with you. They are our friends!
Thank you guys for being so amazing, teaching us important parts of life, and letting us enjoy Adalyn's life with you. We look up to you guys a great deal!
